Artwork Guidelines

Send us your logo and we take it from there. Every order gets a free digital mockup within one business day, free changes until it looks right, and nothing goes into production until you approve it. Your ship date starts the day you approve.

What to send

  • Best: a vector file, .ai, .eps or .pdf saved from Illustrator or a similar program. This is the file your designer made the logo in.
  • Good: a .psd or .png at 300 dpi, at least 2,000 pixels wide, with a transparent background.
  • We can work with: a clean .jpeg on a plain background. Expect an extra round on the mockup while we rebuild it.
  • Please avoid: screenshots, logos pulled from a website, Word or PowerPoint files, and anything under 500 pixels wide. They come out blurry and we will ask you for a better file.

Max file size is 10 MB per file. If your file is bigger, email it to info@wueinc.com with your order number after checkout.

Not sure what you have?

Send it anyway. We look at every file before we build the mockup, and if it will not stitch clean we tell you what we need instead. Most customers never have to touch a design program.

What embroidery does well, and what it does not

Embroidery is thread on fabric, so a few things behave differently than they do on a screen.

  • Solid colors stitch great. Gradients, drop shadows and photo effects do not. We convert them to solid thread colors on the mockup so you can see exactly how it will look.
  • Text needs room. Letters under about a quarter inch tall (6 mm) fill in and become hard to read. If your logo has a tagline, we may suggest dropping it or making it bigger.
  • Thin lines get thicker. Anything thinner than 1 mm becomes a single row of stitches. Fine details in small logos tend to merge.
  • Thread colors are matched, not mixed. We pick the closest thread to each color in your logo. If you have Pantone numbers, include them. If not, we match by eye and you check it on the mockup.

How big can the logo be?

  • Cap front: up to about 4.5 inches wide by 2.25 inches tall. Most logos look best around 3.5 inches wide.
  • Cap side or back: up to about 2.5 inches wide.
  • Left chest on polos and shirts: 3.5 to 4 inches wide.
  • Full back: up to 12 inches wide.

You do not need to resize anything. Tell us where it goes and we size it on the mockup.

Patches

PVC and fabric patches follow the same file rules. Fabric patches can carry gradients and photo detail, so send the full color version. PVC patches are molded in solid colors, up to about six colors per patch. Patch orders start at 24 pieces and take about six weeks after you approve the mockup.

Screen printing

For t-shirts, send a vector file or a 300 dpi image. Each color in the design is a separate screen, so a two color logo prints cleaner and costs less than a five color one. If your artwork has gradients or photos, tell us and we will recommend the right print method.

No logo yet?

We can add a phone number, a website or a social handle to a logo you already have, and we can clean up a rough file. We do not design logos from scratch. If you only have your logo on a business card, your printer or designer usually has the original vector file, and that is the one to ask for.

The short version

  • Vector file if you have it, high resolution .png if you do not.
  • Tell us where the logo goes and any thread colors you care about.
  • We send a mockup within one business day. Free changes until it is right.
  • You approve, we stitch. Embroidery ships in 7 to 10 business days, patches in about six weeks.
